S-3D Game Testing Report Reveals Gameplay Insights

Insight Media has released the 2009 Stereoscopic 3D Gameplay Evaluation Report: An assessment of the performance and usability of 3D games on 3D monitors. The report addresses some of the most obvious questions facing those engaged in the stereoscopic 3D gaming market.

To answer these questions, we took the point of view of a gamer. We optimized and evaluated 24 different games covering all genres, and tested them on three different types of monitors (the Hyundai x-pol type, Samsung shutter glass type and iZ3D two-panel type). Data and conclusions, for each game with each monitor, are provided in the report.

“I was a little skeptical that the 3D gameplay would be compelling when we first started this project,” noted lead analyst, Dale Maunu. “But I can now say it is indeed a compelling experience, but the results will be quite variable depending on set up, drivers and display system – even for the same game.”
